Reflecting their reputation as a leader in the global real estate market, the design of the new JLL DC Headquarters space integrates the best practices of today’s high-performing workplaces. The goal of the project was to design a home for JLL clients and employees that showcases JLL’s brand and connection to DC while providing a variety of work modes to support employees’ physical health and mental well-being.

The lobby is designed to be welcoming while incorporating the organization’s strong brand identity and Washington, DC presence. Glass conference rooms emphasize expansive views around an existing stair, and touchdown spaces designed for both employee and guest use energize and activate reception. Locally commissioned artwork and DC-inspired details, including an artistic steel map of the surrounding community, provide a personal touch. A large café accommodates multiple uses throughout the day, and provide a relaxed environment for employees and guests to gather for meeting or social purposes.

The space encourages interaction and accommodates privacy while incorporating wellness strategies such as transparency, biophillic design, adjustability, access to natural light, color, and natural materials. Workspaces balance cultural demands for open and private environments, offering five types of individual work spaces, including custom designed executive workstations called “Studios” along the window.

The combination of these strategies and flexible spaces result is a true “Workplace: Showplace,” and a comprehensive reflection of JLL’s global brand and regional culture in action.
