Empowering Inclusion

The DC Center for the LGBT Community

Designed with the organization’s specific needs in mind, the DC Center relocation helps further its mission to educate, empower, celebrate, and connect the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender communities. The new 6,671-SF space increases their capacity and vital outreach initatives, with the additional ability to sublease to other LGBTQ+ nonprofits, including Wanda Alston Foundation, Rainbow Families, and G3 Associates.

Supported by a $1 million investment by the Office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development, the new flexible workplace will include ten offices and multiple co-working stations. Much of the design incorporates vetted and green-certified materials to meet and surpass the DC Green Construction and Energy Code’s sustainable standards. The project strives to minimize its environmental footprint while prioritizing the health and wellness of occupants. Additionally, the new LGBTQ+ Community Center will go above and beyond ADA requirements to ensure inclusivity, accessibility, and comfort for all.
