The Earl at 1200 N Hudson Street is a two-phase multifamily development in Clarendon, VA. Delivered in the summer of 2021, Phase I consists of 333 units across two buildings and 2,400-SF of retail while Phase II will begin construction in 2022. Each Phase I building is distinguished by a unique design concept–Rain and Wind–that appeal to the market’s most robust audience groups. An overarching natural nobility theme blends organic elements with creative nods to the Earl of Arlington, the building’s namesake, for a luxurious and serene residential environment that doesn’t take itself too seriously.

Seeking to target the top two audiences in the Arlington market–millennials and empty nesters–the resulting design distinguishes the towers with concepts and amenities appealing to the quintessential tastes of each. Spacious units range from studio to one and two bedrooms and offer high-quality finishes, walk-in closets, and balcony options. Rain units capture the quintessential millennial taste with contemporary finishes like warm wood cabinetry and bold statement walls while Wind units lean traditional with a neutral palette and sleek upgrades like tiled vanity walls. Across units, spa-inspired bathrooms provide a private oasis while entertainment kitchens with hooded ranges and wine refrigerators appeal to epicurean residents.

Nearly 15,000 square feet of amenities, shared between both buildings create equal opportunities to work or socialize. Rain caters to a social demographic, incorporating entertainment-related amenities and services such as a pet spa with grooming stations and a bicycle repair shop to support their active lifestyles. An entertainment kitchen and bar look onto a clubroom with billiards and an adjacent screening room. A walkway connects the two buildings’ courtyards. Wind is designed for a more mature audience with amenities for independent activities or private and intimate experiences. In Wind, residents enter a vestibule leading to a quaint cafe and lounge. Nearby, a large co-working area includes booth seating, a conference table, and private meeting rooms. While Rain houses the community pool, both buildings offer state-of-the-art fitness facilities and landscaped rooftop patios with grilling stations and impressive views.

Silver finishes in Rain complement custom decorative elements like the grand lobby’s crystal raindrop chandelier and double-height rain screen as well as the fitness center’s water droplet mural. An abundance of texture and imagery articulate Wind including cloud paintings, windmill-inspired room dividers, mobile light fixtures, and custom sand ripple sculptural wallpaper. Throughout, commissioned works from local artists and fabricators, including royal-inspired artwork and metallic embellishes, bring the design vision and branding to life.

Despite delivering during the pandemic, this curated, luxurious residence was at near-full capacity after less than a year on the market. Additionally, the original developer and client sold The Earl to its current owner prior to completion, achieving their goal ahead of schedule. With its robust collection of amenities, unique design, and spacious units, The Earl has solidified its position as a long-standing favorite among Arlington residents.
