Plaza West is a new, 284,645 SF all affordable housing project in the Mount Vernon Triangle neighborhood of Washington, D.C. The project was funded through the District of Columbia’s Department of Housing and Community Development, and developed on land owned by the Golden Rule Plaza, Inc., a wholly-owned affiliate of the Bible Way Church, and the Hensen Development Company. The development of the project was managed by Mission First Housing Group, a non-profit housing developer based in Philadelphia, PA.

The program includes much needed housing for two types of units: the first, 173 affordable units and the second for 50 “Grandfamily” units, grandparents raising grandchildren where the parent is not present. This “Grandfamilies” component will feature on-site supporting services through a program called the “Plaza West Community Life Program”. Two lobbies, one for each unit type, were incorporated at each end of an irregular site, a major portion of which borders a freeway that cuts through the neighborhood and city. Separate amenities were also provided along the length of the ground floor, including a two-story club room, raised outdoor courtyard, and upper level social room for the Grandfamily tenants.
