[solidcore] Headquarters

[solidcore] brings positive, intentional energy to every class, and we infused the same spirit into the design of their new Arlington, VA headquarters. The moody, sophisticated space is designed to echo [solidcore]’s brand identity, creating an environment that supports, focus, flow and the drive to excel.  This thoughtfully-crafted workspace embodies the energy and elegance of their studios, inspiring staff to thrive in a setting that aligns with their mission.

Like their workouts, [solidcore] employees are driven by [results] and efficiency—this is reflected in the design of their space.

With no formal reception area, the studio serves as a forward-facing representation of who [solidcore] is to its clients and visitors. This space includes a welcoming lounge flanked by branding, conferencing areas, and a Mock Studio. The Mock Studio houses their one-of-a-kind Pilates machine, the [sweatlana], and is used for workout innovation, content creation for social media, and marketing purposes.

The core of the space meets the needs of the employee community by offering a diversity of workspaces as well as a café, promoting active design through destination nodes for collaboration, all-staff meetings, nourishment, and respite.

The blue lights create an undercurrent of electric energy and excitement, serving as a way-finding element to guide people from the entry to the core of the space. In [solidcore] studios, instructors and participants often refer to being ‘under the blue lights’ during classes, making this an essential expression of the [solidcore] brand.

Inspired by the bracketed levels of difficulty of the [sweatlana] carriage, intersections in the floor plan are marked with a whitewash overlay on the polished concrete to help orient users within the nearly symmetrical layout.

Just as the dark interior of the studios encourages intense focus, the headquarters adopts dark ceilings and finishes to foster an atmosphere of deep concentration and flow transforming the environment, subtly guiding those within toward an immersive, introspective work experience.

[solidcore] values bold, dramatic spaces that spark creativity and are thoughtfully designed. The spaces exudes an elegant, moody ambiance, where deep, rich, tones blend seamlessly with sophisticated textures and wood elements. The result is a harmonious design brimming with energy, precise attention to detail, and the use of honest and practical materials.

Innovative design details, such as screening elements with [sweatlana] cabling at the entrance and between boots in the café, evoke a sense of intrigued and subtle branding throughout the space.

Located in a LEED Gold building, [solidcore] aimed to maximize human comfort, encourage connection with nature, inspire equity, and reinforce their unique sense of community for both employees and coaches. Perimeter partitions were minimized to maximize views of the exterior, with open office areas prioritized along the perimeter to provide abundant access to daylight and outdoor views.

A rejuvenation lounge adjacent to the café provides a connection to nature with views of the Theodore Roosevelt Bridge and Freedom Park, allowing employees to watch planes take off and land at Reagan National Airport.
