Starr Ashcraft
Senior Architect
“Multi-family, mixed-use projects are probably the best Jenga puzzles you can master. After 20 years and a dozen or so buildings built, I still find satisfaction and intrigue in what I do.”
Starr has been with Hickok Cole since 2008 after moving back to the DC area from Boston. Multifamily housing is Starr’s passion. She enjoys the complexity of designing mixed-use, urban buildings, that constantly change with the fabric of the city. Her specialty lies in combining wood frame efficiencies with high-design aesthetics to distinguish projects within the marketplace. Her commitment and care go beyond what is expected to encompass improving design standards, elevating detailing, and mentoring the next generation of architects. Starr keeps her creativity flowing by baking treats (that she shares with us when we’re well-behaved!) and designing stationery — her work has even been featured in Martha Stewart!
