Vintage Vibes

Jackson & James

Brother and sister team Mike and Rachel Anderson saw the need for a curated, high-end retail environment in Richmond. With their keen eye for men’s clothing trends, they created a specialty boutique focused on craftsmanship and storytelling in Scott’s Addition.

The industrial open environment celebrates makers by leaning heavily on repurposed antique items to achieve its storied environment. Old railroad carts used as displays, suspended historic window panes scrapped from a sibling trip, and shelving crafted from a fallen tree in Hollywood Cemetery emphasize the raw and rustic nature of the Jackson & James aesthetic.

Rich, natural woods and unfinished edges evoke a sense of rough-refined elegance for a modern approach to all-American while clean-lined pieces add an element of modernism and brass accents subtly hint at the tools and process of creating clothing.  Using a natural color palette with bold pops of red and auburn, the space itself compliments the pairs of blue jeans and leather goods stacked on rustic iron display cases.

Taking special care to create an approachable and relaxed space where male clientele would feel comfortable, the space includes hospitable touches like the installation of a cash wrap whiskey bar and a TV lounge for game day viewing.
