Student housing high-rise by VCU tops off in Richmond

Parc View at Commonwealth, a 15-story, 168-unit student housing apartment tower in Richmond’s Monroe Ward, celebrated its topping off after three years of construction. Initially planned with a steel frame, the building’s material was changed to concrete due to pandemic-related supply chain issues and rising construction costs, resulting in cost savings and design efficiencies. The apartment tower is one of the tallest buildings in the neighborhood and is designed to house 500 students with fully-furnished units. To distinguish the property from other student housing developments which feature lifestyle amenities like climbing walls and pools, Parc View features educational-based amenities including study rooms and an art studio to support nearby Virginia Commonwealth University’s renowned arts program. Amenities also include a dog park, rooftop lounge and fitness center, and 1,700 SF of ground-floor retail space available through JLL. Pre-leasing is now underway with units targeting occupancy by June 2024.
