The Jack Kent Cooke Foundation headquarters is a 23,000-square-foot, two-story facility situated on a 17-acre wooded site in Lansdowne, Virginia. Hickok Cole Architects worked closely with the Foundation’s staff and its Board of Directors throughout the design of the project. The building’s location is bound by Woodridge Parkway to the East, Riverside Parkway to the South, an adjacent developed parcel to the West, and Lansdowne Golf Course to the North. The site has been maintained as a heavily wooded area, gently sloping towards the golf course, with natural features that include existing stone walls, boulders, and rock outcroppings. The building is situated to the North of the parcel to take advantage of the views to the golf course and surrounding woodlands. Adjacent to the building, stone retaining walls, terraces and new plantings complete the landscaping.
