Highland Park is a high-end, hip apartment building in the revitalized neighborhood of Columbia Heights, Washington DC. The apartment building is 295,400 sf with 234 units ultimately making it a target for young professionals. The scope of the interior designer’s services consisted of the common areas, including the lobby, lounge, fitness center, corridors and elevator cabs.
To attract a mod urbanite tenant, the designers drew inspiration from modern furniture and developed a design concept of pure modern form and colorful translucency. In the main lobby, the hottest current colors play off a fresh, clean palette of pearlescent white lacquered wall panels and white terrazzo tile flooring. A floor-to-ceiling backlit LED wall greets guests with an ever-changing kaleidoscope of 16-million color variations.
The rear lobby continues the modern white palette. A 20-foot tall translucent blue wall extends the height of the space, and a stainless steel and translucent blue resin staircase connects the space to a multi-level gym, patio and management offices, and a community room.
