Digital Receiver Technology, Inc. (DRT) specializes in the design and manufacturing of cellular communications test and measurement equiptment, and provides consulting services in many areas related to communications design and management. DRT was purchased by Boeing in December 2008 and is now a wholly-owned subsidiary of The Boeing Company.

Hickok Cole is completing the interior renovation of DRT’s Germantown facility, which is dedicated to equipment manufacture, offices and engineering development laboratories. The facility consists of a continuous manufacturing floor on the first floor, including a large supply area and storeroom, and office space on the second, third and fifth floors. A 1,500 sf lounge/pantry on the manufacturing floor, designed with a unique industrial feel, provides the engineers with a collaborative space to break and interact.

The design concept for the office floors is based on a computer chip. The design team developed geometric patterns based on the components of the chip, and relected this geometry in the ceiling design, bold graphic elements in the elevator lobbies, and conference room graphics.
