Art Night, All Month Long

Every fall, Hickok Cole partners with Washington Project for the Arts (WPA) to host Art Night – an annual exhibit and fundraiser that has raised over $1,000,000 in support of WPA’s mission and the local arts community. This year, we’re challenged to reimagine Art Night, marking our 20th year with a socially-distant, yet highly-connected virtual celebration spanning the entire month of October. And though we’ll miss the conversation and clink of glasses among friends (and the six o’clock race to snag your favorite piece), we’re excited to shake things up with new programming and social content, and our first-ever virtual gallery experience. All curated to connect you with more than ever with local art and the diverse community of creatives behind it.

Art Month 2020 brings artists, collectors, and the DC real estate community together in a unique celebration of art and recognition of its role in our lives and communities. Patrons can show their support in THREE ways: attending Art Month programming, engaging with and promoting artists through our social campaign, and – most importantly – BUYING ART. This year’s virtual gallery will be open for two full weeks and features over 200 works at a variety of price points – bringing pieces that are compelling and affordable for experienced and aspiring collectors alike.

Washington Project for the Arts is a not-for-profit platform for collaborative and experimental artist-organized projects, dialogue, and advocacy.

20th Anniversary Art Advisory Committee

In honor of the event’s 20th anniversary, we reconnected with past Art Night curators, asking them to recommend up to 10 artists for inclusion in the show. Each artist was invited to submit work for consideration to WPA for selection in this year’s extensive collection. Thanks to the committee for their ongoing commitment to Art Night, WPA, and the local arts community.

The Art Devils

For the second year, our heavenly host gets a bit more nefarious with the support of our Art Devils. Each works directly with Caitlin Berry of Caitlin Berry Fine Art—member of our 20th Anniversary Art Advisory Committee—to identify art for purchase prior to the virtual gallery opening. Thank you to our expanding list of Art Devils for committing $40,000 to Art Night.

The Art Angels

__________

Thank you to our 2020 Art Angels, who have generously pre-committed $42,500 to Art Night. For the third year, their support is supplemented by our Art Cherubs, a group of up-and-coming collectors who together have committed an additional $4,500.
