Each autumn Hickok Cole joins the Washington Project for the Arts to sponsor Art Night. Held at our offices in Georgetown, local metro-area artists and our staff are invited to show their best work. We invite the arts community, our clients, friends, and families to view the hundreds of pieces and enjoy an evening dedicated to bringing together architecture and the arts. Art Night 2014 raised a record $125,000 for the Washington Project for the Arts and local artists. We thank our guests and the 2014 Art Angels for their support and patronage. Since its inception 10 years ago, Art Night has raised almost $700,000 in support of the local arts community.
Art Night 2014 Curator Deirdre Ehlen MacWilliams selected compelling works by local contemporary artists working in a variety of media. Deirdre is a public art project manager, curator and producer for Arlington Public Art, the 5×5 Project and Foggy Bottom Sculpture Biennial.
Washington Project for the Arts (WPA) is a not-for-profit visual arts organization that supports artists at all states of their careers and promotes contemporary art by presenting exhibitions, issues, and ideas that stimulate public dialogue on art and culture (wpadc.org). In 2015, WPA will move into new offices and a dedicated exhibition space, designed by Hickok Cole Architects, at its new home in The JBG Companies’ Atlantic Plumbing Project.
Special Thanks to our 2014 Art Angels:
